The Soola is possessed by the Hindu God Shiva and is said to have been used as a symbol of destruction. Durga also holds Soola, as one of her many weapons. Many deities, who hold the weapon Soola, Sri Sudarsana holds Soola as one of the sixteen weapons. The three points have various meanings and significance. They are commonly said to represent various trinities—creation, maintenance and destruction, past, present and future, guna Satwa, Rajas and Tamo gunas. Usually , Soola is seen near the bali peeta of Amman temples and abhisheka is also done to these soolams.
